The Flower Power Wall Charger

January 8th, 2009 by Ally in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Everyone has to deal with organizing all the gadgets that need charged up.  It doesn’t even have to be that you have a large gadget family.  Even one person can stack up plenty of gadgets to cause a bit of chaos with all the chargers.  Well if you’re looking for an organizer, somehow I doubt you had envisioned something like this.  It’s not that I hate it so much I think no person could desire it, it’s more that it’s so odd, I don’t even know how the designer got the idea.

NetGear’s Internet TV Player

January 7th, 2009 by Mark R in Audio/Video Gadgets, CES 2009, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

I don’t know who the speaker was at NetGear’s CES Press Conference this morning, but he was very excited about his company’s new Internet TV Player.

The Internet TV Player is exactly what the name implies, a way of enjoying Internet videos on your television. This type of technology isn’t really new, but when the speaker withdrew the device from his jacket pocket, that got the crowd’s attention. Apparently, not many PC to TV devices are this small. The remote control that you see in this photo on the left is exactly to scale.

Big things come in small packages on this device as it allows the user to browse through popular Internet sites like YouTube or any other site with video content. No computer is required as the user can scroll through a menu screen right on his or her television.

Sony Launches the VAIO P Series

January 7th, 2009 by Mark R in CES 2009, PC Gadgets

A few weeks ago, some rumors began to circulate that Sony was launching something new in the realm of portable PCs. Today, the rumors have been confirmed as the electronics giant announced the VAIO P Series Lifestyle PC at a Press Conference at CES.

The VAIO P can use both 3G Broadband and 802.11 wireless LAN. Sony boasted today that now a user can have access to the Internet anywhere he or she travels with the help of Verizon’s network.

With a screen measuring of about 8 inches, the VAIO P is one of the smallest (dare I say it) netbooks on the market as it can fit in a jacket pocket, handbag, or even a business envelope. Even though the screen may be small, it is wide enough to display the width of an entire website without any horizontal scrolling. The VAIO P is definitely one of the lightest of portable PCs, weighing in at about 1.4 pounds.

Vizio Unveils two new Soundbars at CES

January 7th, 2009 by Mark R in CES 2009

Even though it is the day before CES officially begins, Vizio already has a lot of presence in Las Vegas with the announcement of two new soundbars.

The VSB210 and VSB210WS are both designed to deliver high performance surround sound experience without multiple speakers. Each one has a piano black finish with chrome accents as well as a hybrid tabletop stand and wall mount bracket for flexible installation.

The only difference between the two models is that the WS has a wireless subwoofer. It is not completely wireless, as it requires a single cord to attach to any flat panel TV. The subwoofer is an advanced 2.4GHz outfitted with a long throw 6.5 inch woofer providing bass response that extends from 35Hz to 80Hz.

Lok8u’s Nu•M8 GPS Child Locator Watch

January 7th, 2009 by Ally in CES 2009, Childrens Gadgets

On occasion as a parent you get stuck in situations where you’re more worried than usual about keeping track of your children.  Well Lok8u is releasing a gadget to help you out in such situations.  It’s a set of watches that incorporate GPS, so that you never lose track of your little ones.  Likely this won’t be ideal once your kids get a fashion sense of their own, but it will work for at least the younger kids.  That is unless you can pitch the watch to them in a way that they won’t mind that it’s a bit on the unfashionable side.

The Interactive Duck Hunter Game

January 7th, 2009 by Ally in Miscellaneous Gadgets

A good portion of us have played Duck Hunt on the NES at some point. It was fun at the time and has now grown to become a gaming classic that you can fondly look back upon. Well now for all those parents that complain their kids won’t leave their game consoles and computers behind, there’s this little toy. It’s inspired by the Duck Hunt game, although somehow I doubt it’s nearly as cool as the NES version used to be.

Tonium’s New Pacemaker Rocks at CES Unveiled

January 7th, 2009 by Mark R in Audio/Video Gadgets, CES 2009

A few weeks ago, I received an email from someone who was telling me about a new Pacemaker on display at CES. Since I usually don’t report on medical-tech supplies, I ignored it. It was rather embarrassing when I found out at CES Unveiled that the Tonium Pacemaker has nothing to do with any surgical procedure, but it is a digital DJ System.

The demonstration of this device was quite impressive. The new improved Pacemaker has a 60GB to 120GB hard drive, which is good enough for storing fifteen to thirty thousand songs. You will definitely need that storage space as you can mix together new audio files from two different tracks.

The controls looked difficult at first, but the user can quickly adapt to them to put effects in his or her mixed tracks using a touch-sensitive circular controller and track switching buttons. The Pacemaker is somehow able to put two terrific tracks in sync so they mix to create something entirely awesome.
