my mac setup

As a six year mac veteran there are a few tricks that I have acquired over the years. Many consumers are lead to believe that once one purchases a mac computer that just maybe all headaches shall cease to exist. Unfortunately life is never that simple. Nevertheless, here are few MAC tips that may help to ease your pain:

  • Clean all browser caches. This can be done manually. Go to: In Firefox > Tools > Clear Private Data. (In Firefox it can also be done automatically. Go to: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Private Data and there is an option to have all private data cleared when Firefox is closed)  In Safari Open > Safari > Empty Cache . It is important to clean your cache as certain websites store malicious malware and unnecessary information.
  • Get to know your keyboard shortcuts. Go to: System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts.
  • Are you in the habit of multitasking? I recommend upgrading your ram. "Increasing the memory in the Mac does not increase the Mac's speed - rather it removes slowdowns that result from your programs and data not having enough memory."
  • Buy a AppleCare Protection Plan only when it is necessary. Why waste your AppleCare Plan with unused days? A MAC warranty can be bought at anytime and will be activated on the day of your purchase. When your mac breaks buy it then and only then.
  • MAC computers come equipped with great free Utilities, therefore, why not use them? Go to: Finder > Go > Utilities > Disk Utility which is an amazing application for performing many actions such as repairing, erasing, partitioning and etc.
